Strolling the Farmer's Market after grabbing lunch from one of the vendors in the market, our friend asked if we have tried Vive La Tarte's specialty croissants. Since we haven't, he says we need to try it and he walks us to the left front entrance of the Ferry Building, where their stand is located across from Gott's.
It appears they are known for their tacros, which was all sold out as per their posted sign. But our friend wanted us to try the specialty croissants and they had the passion fruit croissant available. Getting it to go, it was packed in a box.
The croissant has a nice crispy shell with layer of flaky pastry that was filled with a passion fruit custard. It is topped with two dollops of meringue, each with a slice of orange and kiwi. It was a delicious dessert croissant. Due to the transport jostle from transport, our croissant was not picture perfect anymore as the fruit fell off the meringue. I'm glad our friend introduced us to these croissants, as I will be back to try their other specialty choices. -

For a while, I have been trying to check this place out but due to the distance from work and the general unavailability, it was rather difficult to finally order this tacro. While there are multiple Vive La Tarte locations in Downtown SF, the Embarcadero one is the only location that has the tacro, which is basically a taco but with a croissant base.
The pulled pork & pineapple tacro contains some cotija, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, pulled pork, and pineapple. There is a decent amount of each ingredient, but the amount of pulled pork is a little less than I expected. Regardless, the pork was pretty average while the other ingredients don't really mesh too well with the tacro. The tacro shell itself is very flaky and buttery, but I wished it was a little bit softer inside so it is easier to take bites off. The major issue I faced was that the shell was slightly burnt. Overall, this is a pretty interesting item to check out, but it was a little bit unimpressive in terms of food quality. -

Love Vive La Tarte. Smaller location than the Folsom branch, but equally delicious pastries. The avocado toast was fantastic, ditto the croissants and espressos. Didn't have the pastry 'tacos' so cannot comment there....

5 stars for their Almond croissant!!! We spent a Saturday afternoon at the Ferry building, eating and walking and eating some more. The first thing that caught my eye was the Almond croissant at this Vive La Tarte kiosk! First of all, it's beautiful, coated in powdered sugar, meringue and strawberries! The inside is filled with a cool custard with a mild marzipan flavor. The $6.00 for this croissant is more than worth it!!!!!

I really enjoyed coming to this kiosk in the Ferry Building for a quick, grab-and-go workday breakfast that's worth the price. I had their croissant flavor of the day, mocha: a beautifully flaky croissant, filled with a mocha custard, and topped with mocha whipped cream, chocolate, and powdered sugar. It was filling without being too filling, sweet without being too sweet, and decadent without being too decadent. I can't wait to try more of their flavors!
